 What is Selenium IDE ?

      

             Selenium IDE is Integrated Development Environment which is the first developed and simple tool in Selenium Suite. Selenium IDE is an record and playback tool. Selenium IDE is only an prototyping tool and its is not for developing and maintaining a complex test suites.

            Selenium IDE supports auto complete mode when creating tests. This feature serves two purposes:

• It helps the tester to enter commands more quickly.
• It restricts the user from entering invalid commands.

Selenium IDE can be used without having prior knowledge in programming but should be little familiar with HTML coding and DOM (Document Object Model). JavaScript knowledge is required only when we get to the section about the command "Run Script".
